Poker Terms - used in texas holdem poker
3 Bet - is the poker betting term used when someone raises or reraises three times the amount of the previous bet
BB - is the poker betting term used for the person in the second seat to the left of the dealer who must post the 'big blind'. In each dealt hand of texas holdem poker there is a big blind and small blind (half the value of the bb). These wagers are what starts the pot and any person who wants to play in the hand must at least call the bb if there were no previous raises.
Big Slick - is a poker term used when holding pocket aces
Boat - is the poker term used to describe when someone has made a hand of 3 of a kind with a pair (also referred to as a house)
Bounty - is the poker term in a tournament used to describe a value placed on each player that the person who knocks them out of the tournament will receive
Button - is the poker term for the person sitting in the dealers position at the table
Call - is the poker betting term used whenever someone plays a hand but does not raise previous bets
Community Cards - These are the up to 5 cards that the dealer puts on the table face up, that every player in a hand of texas holdem shares with the other players to make their best 5 card hand which includes their hole cards
Cowboys - is a poker term for having a pair of Kings
Flop - is the poker term used to describe the first 3 community cards which the dealer lays on the table at the same time
Fold - is a poker betting term used when you throw away your hand (do not want to play the cards you are dealt)
Freezeout - is a poker term used for a tournament where each player can only buy into the game for a preset cost once. And once you are knocked out (lose all your chips) the game is over for you
Hole Cards - this is the poker term used to describe the 2 private cards each player at the table is dealt face down.
House - is the poker term used to describe when someone has made a hand of 3 of a kind with a pair
Limp - is a poker term used when someone simply calls the bb bet
Loose - is the poker term used to describe when someone is playing many hands or doing lots of betting on marginal playing hands or bluffing a lot
Married to a Hand - this is a poker term used when someone simply cannot lay down the cards they are dealt no matter what community cards come believing they have the best hand
Nuts - is the poker term used when someone is holding the absolute best hand possible with the community cards that are on the table. In other words it is not possible for someone to be holding a better hand no matter what their hole cards are
Raise - is the poker betting term for whenever someone is raising the bet of the previous player in the hand
Rebuy - is a poker term used for a tournament where players are allowed to rebuy more chips at the original entry fee if they have been knocked out of the tournament or in some cases as soon as their starting stack is below or equal to that of the original tournament starting stacks. Rebuy can also refer to adding more money to a ring game you are playing in
Reraise - is the poker betting term used whenever someone bets more than a person who has already raised the betting level
River - is the poker term for the 5th and last community card dealt face up on the table by the dealer
Rockets - is another poker term for holding a pair of aces
SB - is the poker betting term used for the person to the left of the dealer who must post the small blind. See BB above for more details.
Sit n' go - is a poker term refering to a poker tournament to which a set number of entrents must register for it to start
Slow Play - is the poker term used when someone does not bet their hand according to it's strength. In other words you may have made 3 aces but are trying to disguise that fact from other players at the table by making only a small bet or none at all
Set - is the poker term used to describe when someone holding a pocket pair makes 3 of a kind using the community cards on the table
Suckout - is a poker term that refers to someone catching a card that enabled them to win the hand
Tight - is the poker term used to reference a person playing few hands, only the very good cards or keeping the betting sizes down
Trips - is the poker term used to describe when someone has made 3 of a kind
Turn - is the poker term used to describle the 4th community card laid on the table by the dealer
